Disguising himself as John Milton he sets out alone on his horse and has a number of unlikely adventures with people he would normally have never encountered. He helps some of them to happiness, then becomes bored and decides to return
home, but will give one more village a last chance. How the Marquis becomes involved with a ruthless gang of horse thieves and then unexpectedly finds all he is seeking and can claim the Duke’s prize is told in this exciting and different tale by BARBARA CARTLAND.

I disagree with the prior review by Helen Byrne...I am a long time fan of Dame Cartland. Her books were some of the very first books I ever read.Sometimes, if you grow up with an author, you will want to revisit her books again and again....and that's what I am doing. It's been a long time since I held her books in my hands; are the stories cheesy, you bet! Are the heroines/heros simplistic? Yes again! Then why read these books? Because even though I've "grown up" in my reading, I like to visit old friends. It's very comforting to know every story will have a happy ending. Boy gets girl; love rules. Come on! It's like a hug. And at the Kindle price, I can afford to revisit this old friend!

For a Barbara Cartland novel, I did not find this very interesting. It seemed to wander aimlessly and the heroine simply fell into the hero's arms with virtually no conflict at all. Maybe Barbara left some novels unpublished because she decided that they did not work out successfully.
