It's the year 2090, and although technological progress has steadily increased, societal progress still has a long way to catch up. While people with disabilities still exist, in some cultures they are stigmatized. Many parents wonder, "Why allow a disabled child to be born when their genetic code can be changed before birth?"
Dr. Mangané, a Japanese geneticist with dwarfism, tries to prove to his parents, especially his never-pleased father, that he can accomplish something amazing despite being told his whole life he will never amount to anything. He challenges their grim prognosis by becoming a great scientist and conducting a breakthrough experiment that may forever change what it means to be human.
Dr. Mangané's troubles continue, however, when his assistant, Eugene, decides to do his own little experiment against the scientist's strict code of ethics. Such a shock marks the beginning of a series of terrible and tragic events that unravel the fragile sanity he tries so desperately to preserve.
Transmogrified eBook Nico Winter Ellis
Transmogrified by T. VanEeckhoutte is the best Science Fiction novel I’ve read this year. I hope that it is the starting point of a series because there are some unanswered questions. The potential for how the transmogrification technology will alter society in the future will keep me reading if the author revisits this story with a sequel. The author incorporates information about Japanese culture which is interesting but not so overdone that it takes away from the flow of the story. Transmogrified reads more like a comic book than most novels. There is a ton of action packed in the slim 234 pages. However, the author also does not sacrifice description.“Autumn expressed itself subtly in Southern California. The palm trees and much of the other foliage kept their chlorophyll-green coloration, while a few of the sweetgum trees and maples standing along the street had changed their leaves to carotenoid yellows and oranges, and anthocyanin reds and purples.”
I highly recommend Transmogrified for anyone who loves Science Fiction with compelling characters. The science components concerning Biology and Genetics are well done, although this is a Science Fiction novel. The characters are very interesting and the plot is a page turner. My prediction is that if you read this book you will join me in asking the author to continue the story in a sequel.

Transmogrified eBook Nico Winter Ellis Reviews
This book is definitely a page turner! When I grudgingly had to put it down I could not stop my mind from returning to the story. It left me with an unquenchable thirst for more.
I highly recommend this to all who love to be transported to an alternate, but realistically possible, world. It has the perfect balance of whimsical humor to counter the serious problems that arise.
The premise is original and thought provoking.
The author's style reminds me of Haruki Murakami's (one of my favourite authors), and I can't wait until another book is released! I need more!
I normally don't like science fiction, since the genre usually focuses on technology and has very bland characters, so once the technology proposed becomes commonplace the book loses what made it unique. This story, however, tells a very human drama. I enjoyed the undertone of optimism within the story, no matter how bleak things seemed at any time. Whenever I had to stop reading, I wouldn't stop thinking about what would happen next and was in a hurry to get back to it. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone interested in a human drama set within a futuristic setting.
I really enjoyed reading Transmogrified because of the novel's originality, it is like nothing I have read before. The characters are developed with such sensitivity to each person's struggles, flaws, passions, aspirations. I felt like I could relate to the characters. Although the novel does deal with some serious themes, there is a pleasant amount of humor that is woven into the story. I found that this novel explores many unique perspectives throughout, one in particular is Japanese culture and ideals. I now feel I have a better understanding of people that are different from myself. As I was reading, I did get lost with the characters and what they were experiencing, so be prepared to laugh, cry, and be surprised! I definitely recommend this book for someone who wants to be entertained yet inspired at the same time.
